Never before have Canadians been as concerned about clean air. When this webpage was launched in 2000, public health experts estimated that air pollution was responsible for 16,000 premature deaths in this country each year; at this rate, 40 Canadians die from air pollution-related causes each and every day.

Much of the content for this site has been adapted from the publication: cleanair.ca: a citizen’s action guide authored by the Environmental Law Centre at UVic and published by the Ecojustice, formerly Sierra Legal Defence Fund.
